The 2007 Merlot is the signature “Blackstone Style” with rich fruit aromas, supple oak characteristics and soft tannins. In 2007 the weather was very dry. The vineyards saw a minimal amount of rain, and temperatures remained cool throughout the winter and spring. The mild winter and spring delayed the bud break and extended the harvest overall, enabling the fruit to develop slowly. Yield were significantly smaller than past vintages, but the quality of the fruit was excellent.
