Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Day falls on the fourth Thursday in November of each year, and has a very colorful history.
The Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians, in 1621, shared an autumn harvest feast which today is widely accepted as the first Thanksgiving meal. This historical harvest meal stands as a symbol of interaction and team work between the English colonists and Native Americans.
Historians have also recorded other ceremonies of thanks among European settlers in North America. In Berkeley Plantation, Virginia in December of 1619 near the Charles River, a group of British settlers knelt in prayer and pledged "Thanksgiving" to God for their health after arriving from a long Atlantic voyage. This event is acknowledged by some scholars and writers as the first Thanksgiving on record.
All celebrations of thanks, no matter the location or date, have held great meaning and importance over the course of time. The legacy of thanks and the feast has lasted through the centuries as people in the United States bring family and friends together to enjoy the annual Thanksgiving meal.
Many businesses also take advantage of the thanksgiving holiday as a way to thank their clients for their loyalty and patronage over the past year. By sending a Thanksgiving gift basket, or an Autumn or Fall Harvest gift, their corporate holiday gift basket arrives before all the Christmas gift baskets start showing up.
By sending your business gifts at unusual times throughout the year, your company has a better chance of being noticed and remembered.
