Saint Patrick's day is always on March 17th, but do you know why?
St. Patrick is one of Christianity's biggest known figures. It is believe that St. Patrick had driven snakes from Ireland.
The holiday today is based on the Christian saint's original feast day, however it is also believed to be the date of his death by some.
In the year 1737, Irish immigrants started to celebrate the holiday publicly in the city of Boston and they held the very first St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1766 in New York City.
Today, the tradition lives on as all different types of people by wearing green, attending parades, and eating Irish food. A typical Irish food eaten and made in the homes of many in the United States is corn beer and cabbage.
St. Patrick's Day contains some very fun traditions such as pinching those that are not wearing green, and drinking green beer. It is certainly a very unique holiday!
