Administrative Professionals Day History - Gifts & Gift Baskets

Administrative Professionals Day is April 22, 2009 and it falls on the Wednesday of the last full week in April.

This annual event was organized in 1952 and was known as "National Secretaries Week" by the National Secretaries Association (now the International Association of Administrative Professionals). It was established to recognize secretaries for their workplace contributions and to also attract people toward both secretarial and administrative career paths.

In 2000, IAAP had announced a change of the names Professional Secretaries Week and Professional Secretaries Day to Administrative Professionals Week and Administrative Professionals Day. This change was made in order to keep up the pace with changing job titles and expanding responsibilities in the administrative workforce.

Administrative Professionals Week is one of the largest workplace observances in the world. It is a worldwide celebrated event that brings together millions of people for educational seminars, community events, and even individual corporate activities that acknowledge support staff with appreciation gifts.

In the United States today, there are more than 4.1 million administrative assistants and secretaries working in the United States and there are also 8.9 million people working in various administrative support roles. Admin's Day is perfect for celebrating the hard work of all these individuals.
